Introduction

Anti-Ahmadis claim that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) is a Kafir for declaring Jihad of the Sword against the British as Unislamic. They also claim that he is a British agent. With this argument, these people have declared all their scholars as British agent and Kafir. In this article, we will show not only the Sunni scholars declaring Jihad against British as Haram, but also going many steps further in proving their loyalty and servitude to the British Empire.

Jihad against British Haram

Ahmad Raza Khan Barelvi

Rashid Ahmad Gangohi al-Deobandi

“The Deobandis, as described above, used the services of officials in supporting their management of the school. They made sure that they conformed in every way to a posture of loyalty.

Rashid Ahmad, for this reason, refused to accept a grant of 5,000 rupees a year from the Shah of Afghanistan for fear that a political link might be suspected.

And the school celebrated ceremonial occasions like coronations with appropriate pomp, and observed times of crises, like Queen Victoria’s last illness, with fitting prayers and messages.”

Maulvi Muhammad Husayn Batalwi

Some of our Muslim brothers believe that the present misfortunes of the followers of Islam cannot be removed without the sword. It is no use acquiring worldly education. However, looking at the present condition of the Muslims, this belief appears improbable.”

“Brethren! the age of the sword is no more. Now instead of the sword it is necessary to wield the pen. How can the sword come into the hands of the Muslims when they have no hands. They have no national identity or existence. In such a useless and weak condition, to consider them as a nation is to exceed the imagination of Shaikh Chilli (a proverbial, comical figure in Urdu fiction).”

This makes sense as there was extreme bad blood between the Ahnaaf and the Ahle Hadith in India. For example, if an Ahle Hadith did Rafa Yadain in a Hanafi Mosque he could be beaten and kicked out of the mosque. Ahmad Raza Khan, who defended traditional Hanafi Orthodoxy, in India said that Wahabis are not only Kafir but also Wajib ul Qatl and that they are followers of Satan.

Maulana Muhammad Hussain Batalawi severely condemned the 1857 mutineers who rebelled against the British. He writes:

“Uninformed Muslims should examine this implication and bear it in mind, and not consider fighting with every rival faith on account of its unbelief to be legal jihad. To fight with peaceful or covenanted people most definitely cannot be legal jihad, whether national or religious, but is rebellion and sedition. The Muslims who took part in the 1857 rebellion were serious sinners, and according to the Quran and Hadith they were rebels, mischief makers and wicked *(BAGHI Aur BAD KIRDAR). Most of the ordinary people among them were like beasts. Those known as the prominent and the Ulama were unacquainted with true faith, or lacking in understanding. Knowledgable Ulema did not participate in the rebellion nor did they sign the Fatawa for Jihad.”

Maulvi Muhammad Hussain Batalvi sent his said ruling in relation to Jihad against the British:

Moulvi Mahomed Hossein, one of the leading and most influential Mowahideens of Lahore, when asked to give his opinion as to whether it was lawful to take up arms against the British, replied that a religious war against the British Government, or any other Government which allowed perfect freedom in religious mat ters, so far from being countenanced by the Mahomedan Law of jehad, was opposed to the doctrines of Islam. In proof of his assertion, he compiled a treatise entitled ‘ Jehad,’ in which he most ably and conclusively demonstrated that jehad against a Government like the British was unlawful and equal to a rebellion against a lawful king, and those who took any part in such a war deserved to be treated as rebels.

Battalvi lies that he does not believe in the Mahdi and Messiah that fights the non-Muslims using the sword. As per him, Mahdi will only use heavenly signs in support of his claim as the Bukhari has the hadith that the war will be abolished at the time of the Messiah.

This contradicts the “Sunni” view which claims that the Mahdi and Messiah will have armies and fight governments using the sword and kill all disbelievers. No non-Muslim will be left alive until they are done with their mission. Everyone will either accept Islam or will be killed.

He could not put forth this belief in front of the government, so he lied to the public and wrote lengthy articles in his magazine and the English Magazine, like below:

“It is also untrue to say that the belief in the coming of Masih and Mahdi is dangerous, for the learned Muhammadans do not believe that the Promised Masih and Mahdi will propagate Islam by the sword. According to Sahih Bukhari, a book unanimously believed to be an authority by Sunnis, the promised Masih will put an end to all fighting and will propagate Islam simply by means of heavenly signs and spiritual powers. Imam Mahdi will also come at the same time and there shall be no bloodshed and no Jehad. Islam will be spread by peaceful methods. I have written a lengthy article on the subject and it is about to be published shortly, so I need not go into details here, but I may declare it most emphatically that the Muhammedan belief in the coming of Masih and Mahdi does in no way constitute a danger to the country’s peace.”

Maulana Sayyid Nadhir Hussain of Delhi (1805-1902) was a very prominent and influential Salafi (Ahlul Hadith) scholar in British India. Today’s Ahlul Hadith of the Indian subcontinent look up to him as a very important scholarly figure. He was the highest Ahl-i hadith theologian. He made it explicitly clear that Jihad against the British government was prohibited:

” The current number of the Ishaatus-sunnat contains a long leading article under the heading ‘ Wahabis,’ attempting to prove that the Wahabis of India (who in the article under notice are styled as Mowahideens) are as good and loyal subjects of the Queen as any other section of the Mahomedan community. The article in question commences by stating that the name ‘ Wahabi ‘ is regarded by the Mowahideens in the same light as that of bidati, that is> superstitious, by the Sunnis. The reasons why they regard it so are many. In the first place the word whatever be its meaning from a religious and literary point of view has long been associated with disloyalty, as the Sunnis have long laboured to impress on the rulers of the country, that Mowahideens of India, like the Wahabis of Hazara and other frontier tribes, are the enemies of order and peace, and that they hold it lawful to make jehad, or religious war, against the British Government. That the Mowahideens have cleared themselves of this most malicious and serious charge, is evident from the fact that, in 1875 Moulvi Mahomed Hossein, one of the leading and most influential Mowahideens of Lahore, when asked to give his opinion as to whether it was lawful to take up arms against the British, replied that a religious war against the British Government, or any other Government which allowed perfect freedom in religious mat ters, so far from being countenanced by the Mahomedan Law of jehad, was opposed to the doctrines of Islam. This pamphlet he caused to be circulated among a large number of the most learned Maulvis of the Punjab and other provinces, for the purpose of eliciting their opinions on the subject and ascertaining whether the quotations made by him in support of his statements were from competent authorities or otherwise. All Maulvis, among whom the treatise in question was circulated, unanimously testified to their entire concurrence with the opinions of Maulvi Mahomed Hossein and declared his authorities to be unimpeachably trustworthy, putting down their signatures and seals on the pamphlet as a mark of concurrence with its contents.

Introduction

There is a long list of enemies of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (AS) that died a miserable death after entering into Mubahala with him. One of them is Rashid Ahmad Gangohi. He is one of the founding fathers of the Deobandi sect in Islam, one of the most prominent group of ‘Sunnis’ today.

The Promised Messiah (AS) challenged 110 scholars for a Mubahala in his book, Anjam-e-Atham. The names of each of these scholars are listed Ruhani Khazain, vol. 11, pg. 69. 4th in the list is Rashid Ahmad Gangohi.

Rashid Ahmad Gangohi continued to send curse of Allah upon Ahmad (AS) and label him as Dajjal and a Liar. He was soon gotten to justice as he became blind the same year when the Mubahala challenge was done, and later died from a snake bite.

Details

Scholars of the time kept instigating Muslims against the Promised Messiah (AS) and were publishing writings that were filthy, lies, and had other obscenities. After some time, he (AS) invited all his enemies to come forward for a Mubahala (Prayer duel) in the book, Anjam-e-Atham. He claimed that if he is a liar then God should destroy him, otherwise, any of his enemies who accept the Mubahala must be punished.

Because I do not want your servants to fall into temptation and confusion because of me. And it is better for such a liar to die. But O God, All-Knowing and All-Knowing, if You know that all these inspirations that are in my hands are Your inspirations and the words of Your mouth, then make those opponents who are present at this time suffer severe afflication within a period of one year. Make someone blind, or afflict with leprosy or paralysis. Or make madman…

And when I finish making this dua, both sides should say Amen. In the same way, every person from the party of the second party, who is present for the marriage, should pray to Allah that, O God, All-Knowing and All-Knowing, we know the person whose name is Ghulam Ahmad to be a liar, a liar, and an infidel. So, if this person is in fact a liar, a slanderer, a disbeliever, and an irreligious person, and this inspiration of his is not from You, but it is his own slander. Do this kidness on this ummah by taking the life of this liar within a year so that there can be peace from this fitnah.

He lists 58 Ulema of Islam and 52 Ulema of the Sufi Spiritual Orders (Gaddi Nasheen).

It is my condition that the result of my prayers can only be considered when all these people come forward for the challenge of Mubahalah and they get afflicted with the punishments [from the ones I listed].

Even if 1 is saved, I will consider myself a liar, even though they are a 1000 or 2000. Then I will repent on their hands.

[Anjam-e-Atham, Ruhani Khazain, vol. 11, pg 67]

Some people might claim that the divine punishment of 1 or 2 isn’t decisive enough as it might be a coincidence that they are going through a trial by Allah. So he cleared it up and claimed that from these 100, at least 10 should come forward so that no uncertainty can be left.

It is a condition in my Mubahalah that in the listed individuals, atleast 10 men must come forward. It should NOT be less than that. If it is more than that then it will be pleasure and wish. Because the punishment of God on many is such a manifest sign that there is no suspicion left.

[Ibid]

Lastly, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) wrote the following, which clearly convicts Ganoghi under a curse of Allah.

Witness, O earth and O heaven! God’s curse be upon the very one who, after receiving this booklet, neither presents himself for a mubahalah, nor stops denouncing and insulting me as an unbeliever, and does not part company with those who ridicule me. O true believers! Do all of you, for the sake of God, say, Amin.

[Ibid]

Not even 10 from this list of 100+ people came forward. But Gangohi kept cursing and sending Lanat of Allah upon Ahmad (AS).

Fatawah of Rashid Ahmad Gangohi

Gangohi continued cursing the Promised Messiah (as), calling him a liar and a Dajjal (God forbid):

According to ahadith, Mirza is born as a Kadhab (Liar) and Dajjal.

Mirza Qadiani is from among the Dajjals and kaddhab this answer is right…Mirza Qadiani is a misleader and—misguides others, the misguidance and deceit of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani as far as I have come to know, is free from any doubt. Without hesitation, he is completely a misleader, a corrupter, and a creator of discord and trouble.

[Baqiyat Fatawa Rashidiyyah]

Punishment from Allah

Consequently, in the same year (1896 AD) as the challenge written in Anjam e Atham, he became blind in accordance with the content of the challenge. This is mentioned in the biographies of Gangohi.

Another constraint was that since 1314 AH, vision had suddenly failed completely.

Then in 1905, he was bitten by a snake and died.

Hazrat Gangohi used to perform…recitations, and additional prayers in the private chamber of the khanqah. In this chamber, there might have been a snake or another venomous creature that bit him while he was performing the Fajr sunnah prayers

Mention by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS)

This sign is mentioned in Haqiqatul Wahi as follows:

130. [One Hundred Thirtieth] SIGN-In my book Anjām- e-Atham, I invited many opposing maulawis, by name, to a mubahalah [prayer duel], and wrote on page 66 of the book that should any one of them enter into a mubahalah with me, I would pray that some of them may become blind, some may become paralyzed, some may become insane, some may die of snakebite, some may meet an untimely death, some may be disgraced, and some may suffer financial loss. Although all the opposing Maulawi were not courageous enough to accept the challenge of a mubahalah, they continued to slander me behind my back, and persisted in their denial. Rashid Aḥmad of Gangoh, for instance, has not only invoked [The curse of Allah be upon the liars’], but has also called me ‘’Satan’ in one of his posters. Ultimately, the result of this was that of all fifty-two opposing maulawis, only twenty have survived thus far, and even they are ensnared by one calamity or another. The rest have all died. Maulawi Rashid Aḥmad became blind and later died of snakebite, as was in the prayer of the mubahalah. Maulawī Shāh Dīn died after becoming insane. Maulawi Ghulām Dastagīr became a victim of the mubahalah initiated by himself. As for those who are still alive, none of them has escaped the above named calamities, even though they have not yet entered into the mubahalah in the prescribed manner.

[Haqiqatul Wahi, pg. 584]

Conclusion

Just like the other enemies, Rashid Ahmad Gangohi was also humiliated and punished by Allah for invoking the curse of Allah upon Ahmad (AS). It is an amazing sign of the support of Allah that He not only helped Ahmad (AS) against so many enemies but also destroyed them within his lifetime.

Allah SWT told Promised Messiah (AS) of his Death beforehand

Anti-Ahmadis allege that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) died a sudden & unexpected death. However, Ahmad (AS) received several clear divine revelations foretelling his demise. This is just how Muhammad ﷺ was granted revelations foretelling his passing.

Revelations in 1905 indicating death is near

Ahmad (AS) started receiving revelations that his death was near. He did not die all of a sudden, nor was his death unexpected. The occurance of these revelations peaked in the last few days of the Promised Messiah As’s death. Based on these revelation it is clear that the Promised Messiah AS had reached the age that Allah had desired of him and Allah was calling him to himself. This means that the Anti-Ahmadi allegation is left baseless.

In 1905, the Promised Messiah (AS) testified that he received multiple revelations saying that only a small portion of his life spanned remained. These revelations were a message to prepare him and the Jama’at for the future. He writes the following in his book, The Will:

“Since God Almighty has informed me, through recurrent revelations, that the time of my demise is near, and since these revelations have been of such force as to shake me to the very core of my being— turning my heart cold to this life—I have deemed it appropriate to write a few words of admonition…”

[The Will p. 1]

He goes onto cite one profound Arabic he received:

“The appointed time of your death has come close and We shall leave no trace of anything the allusion to which might reflect adversely upon your honor…We have the Power to show you a part of the fulfilment of Our prophecies about the opponents or cause you to die. You will die while I am pleased with you.”

[The Will p. 2]

In the same year, the Promised Messiah (AS) had a dream and revelation that only 2-3 mouthfuls of the water of life were left in a vessel given to him (mouthfuls are euphemism for years):

“I saw in my dream that someone had given me some water in a new earthen vessel. Only two or three mouthfuls of water remained in it but the water was very clear and pure. This was accompanied by the revelation: Water of Life”

[Tadhkirah (2019) p.786]
[Review of Religions, vol. 4, December 1905, p. 480]

Numerous revelations days before his death in 1908

On May 9 1908 Promised Messiah (AS) received the following revelation:

[It is time to march; again, it is time to march.”

[Tadhkirah (2019) p.1033]
[al-Badr, vol. 7, no. 21, May 26, 1908, p. 7 and al-Hakam, vol. 12, no. 35, May 30, 1908, p. 1]]

On May 15 1908 Promised Messiah (AS) received the following revelation:

“Be not afraid, O believers.”

[Tadhkirah (2019) p.1033]
[al-Badr, vol. 7, no. 21, May 26, 1908, p. 7 and al-Hakam, vol. 12, no. 21, May 26, 1908, p. 7]

On May 17 1908 Promised Messiah (AS) received the following revelation:

“Do not put your trust in uncertain life.”

[Tadhkirah (2019) p.1034]
[al-Badr, vol. 7, no. 22, June 2, 1908, p. 3]

On May 20 1908 Promised Messiah (AS) received the following revelation very similar to May 9 revelation but more direct:

“It is time to march; again, it is time to march and death is near.”

[Tadhkirah (2019) p.1034]
[al-Badr, vol. 7, no. 22, June 2, 1908, p. 3]

Confirmation by the Promised Messiah (AS)

On the night of his passing, Ahmad (AS) confirmed the revelations about his death when his dear wife, Amma Jan (RA), asked in concern:

“…I got worried and said ‘O Allah what is happening?,’

Promised Messiah (AS) replied, this is what I used to say (referring to his earlier revelations about his death)”

[Seeratul Mahdi, vol.1, pg. 10-11]

Revelations Fulfilled

Ahmad (AS) passed away peacefully on his bed, as foretold in divine revelations, at 10:30 AM on May 26, 1908, surrounded by family and engaged in the remembrance of Allah.

Several eyewitnesses, including his close family members, friends, and doctors, confirmed his blessed death which can be read here: https://whiteminaret.org/allegations-on-messiah/death-on-toilet/#Explanation

Similarity with Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Prophet ﷺ did the Farewell Sermon.

Ahmad (AS) wrote his last major book “The Will”.

Prophet ﷺ prophesied his death on the deathbed to his daughter, Hazrat Fatima (RA)

Ahmad (AS) prophesied his death to his beloved wife, Hazrat Syeda Nusrat Jahan Begum (RA) – commonly referred to as Amma Jan (RA).

Narrated `Aisha:

“Mother of the Believers: We, the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) were all sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ) and none of us had left when Fatima came walking, and by Allah, her gait was very similar to that of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) .’ When he saw her, he welcomed her, saying, “Welcome, O my daughter!” Then he made her sit on his right or his left, confided something to her, whereupon she wept bitterly. When he noticed her sorrow, he confided something else to her for the second time, and she started laughing. Only I from among the Prophet’s wives said to her, “(O Fatima), Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) selected you from among us for the secret talk and still you weep?” When Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) got up (and went away), I asked her, “What did he confide to you?” She said, “I wouldn’t disclose the secrets of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)” But when he died I asked her, “I beseech you earnestly by what right I have on you, to tell me (that secret talk which the Prophet had with you)” She said, “As you ask me now, yes, (I will tell you).” She informed me, saying, “When he talked to me secretly the first time, he said that Gabriel used to review the Qur’an with him once every year. He added, ‘But this year he reviewed it with me twice, and therefore I think that my time of death has approached. So, be afraid of Allah, and be patient, for I am the best predecessor for you (in the Hereafter).’ ” Fatima added, “So I wept as you (`Aisha) witnessed. And when the Prophet (ﷺ) saw me in this sorrowful state, he confided the second secret to me saying, ‘O Fatima! Will you not be pleased that you will be chief of all the believing women (or chief of the women of this nation i.e. my followers?”)“

[Sahih al-Bukhari 6285, 6286]

Further Similarities with the Holy Prophet ﷺ can be read here in our featured article: https://whiteminaret.org/allegations-on-messiah/similarities-death-of-muhammad-saw/

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Promised Messiah (AS) peacefully passed away on his deathbed, at 10:30 am, surrounded by his family, while deeply engrossed in the remembrance of Allah. One of his final expressions was a heartfelt invocation, “O my beloved Allah.”

It is important to highlight that the accusation made by Anti-Ahmadis regarding his demise is a baseless falsehood devoid of any credible source.

Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the manner in which the Promised Messiah (AS) departed from this world bears a striking resemblance to the last moments of our beloved Prophet (SAW). Therefore, this unfounded allegation not only amounts to a clear act of fabrication but also represents a blasphemous and disrespectful insinuation against the noble Prophet (SAW) himself. May Allah guide those who engage in this blasphemy.

Don’t Fight God: A Warning from Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS)

The Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) of Qadian, articulated in his writings a deep sense of anguish, resolute conviction, and firm reliance upon Divine support. In addressing the scholars and notables of the Muslim ummah at the time, he issued earnest warnings couched in powerful and moving language. He (AS) repeatedly warned the Muslim ulema about the danger of resisting the Divine will, stressing that opposing a messenger of God is, in reality, opposing God Himself. He made it clear that no prayers or supplications, no matter how many or how intense, could ever harm one who is truly sent and supported by the Almighty.

The full warning and fiery challenge of Ahmad (AS) to the Ulema is listed below with references:

“The world does not know me, but He knows me Who has sent me. Those who wish my destruction are mistaken and extremely unfortunate. I am the tree which has been planted by the Lord God with His own hands…..

O People! You must understand this for sure that I am accompanied by that Hand which shall remain faithful to me till the end of time. If your men and your women, and your young and your old, and your insignificant ones and your notables: all committed themselves to praying for my destruction—so much so that your noses get withered and wasted away due to your endless prostrations, and your hands become numb, even then God will most certainly not accept your prayers, and He will not relent until His will is done. Even if I do not have a single human being with me, the angels of God will be on my side. And if you withhold your testimony, the stone will well nigh testify for me. Therefore, do not wrong your souls. God leaves nothing unresolved. I consider as accursed a life which is tainted with falsehood and lies, and which, out of the fear of the creatures of God, evades to comply with Divine imperatives. It is certainly impossible for me to show any slackness—even if the Sun moved from one side and the Earth from the other to crush me between them—in carrying out the duty which God Almighty has at the moment entrusted to me, and for which Alone He has sent me. What is man? A mere worm and nothing more than a clot! How then can I, for the sake of this lowly creature, fail to abide by what the Self-Subsistent Being has commanded. Just as God decided between His prophets and those who rejected them, so shall He decide now.
1974: A Nation’s Rejection

Despite the earnest warning of Hazrat Ahmad (as), the leaders of the Muslim ummah chose hostility over reflection. On September 7th 1974, the National Assembly of Pakistan declared Ahmadis as apostates (Murtad) and outside the fold of Islam. For 50+ years since that day, they have been officially considered Non-Muslims – not by God’s scripture or Hadith, but by a constitutional amendment. This decision shows that it was driven by political motives and pressure from the ulema, who have historically opposed the truthful one and sought to challenge God. Some of the news headlines from that time are listed below:

Path Against God’s Messenger ﷺ and Its Consequences

Excommunicating an entire community that identified as Muslims demonstrated the very arrogance and opposition against which Hazrat Ahmad (as) had warned. In fact, this act directly contradicted the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who stated that there would be one true heavenly jama‘ah on one side in the latter days, and 72 hell-bound sects on the other (click here to see the Hadith).

Instead of seeking God’s verdict through humble prayer and sincere inquiry, Pakistan’s National Assembly issued a man-made judgment – effectively trying to uproot the tree God Himself had planted. From that day onward, Pakistan has fuelled hatred, discrimination, and brutalities against Ahmadis, thereby inviting the wrath of God by opposing His Messenger – as the country regresses every single day politically, socially, and economically. In opposing the tree planted by the Almighty, they have placed themselves on a path where lasting success and the status of true Muslims remain beyond reach.

May Allah the Almighty guide the Muslim Ummah, especially the Muslims of Pakistan, to recognize and accept the Imam of the Age. Amin.

Introduction

Some Muslims allege that since Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (AS) lied that the following hadith exists in Bukhari, he cannot be a Messiah sent by Allah.

…those ahadith of Şahih al-Bukhāri foretelling the appearance of Khulafa’ in the Latter Days, especially that khalifah about whom it is recorded in Şahih al-Bukhari that, for him, a voice will descend from heaven: هذا خَلِيفَةُ اللَّهِ الْمَهْدِي [This is God’s Khalifah, the Guided One]. Now consider the status and credibility of this hadith-which is recorded in the most authentic of books after the Book of Allah. On the other hand, the hadith that has been presented by the critic has been criticized by the ulema on many grounds and its authenticity has been questioned.

[Testimony of the Holy Quran, pg. 66]

In this article, we will show how this argument declares all the prophets of Allah as false.

Refutation

Can Prophets make mistakes?

Anti-Ahmadis showcase their ignorance of basic Islamic principles with these allegations. This allegation on Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) is actually an allegation on the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as he too made humanly mistakes in day to day matters. If an accidental misquoting of a hadith to a different book makes one a false Messiah, then same must be said about the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and other Prophets of Allah.

Adam (AS)

And verily, We had made a covenant with Adam beforehand, but he forgot, and We found in him no determination to disobey.

[Quran 20:115]

Muhammad (SAW)

Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet prayed (and the sub-narrator Ibrahim said, I do not know whether he prayed more or less than usual ), and when he had finished the prayers he was asked, O Allah’s Apostle! Has there been any change in the prayers? He said, What is it?’ The people said, You have prayed so much and so much. So the Prophet bent his legs, faced the Qibla and performed two prostration’s (of Sahu) and finished his prayers with Taslim (by turning his face to right and left saying: ‘As-Salamu `Alaikum- Warahmat-ullah’). When he turned his face to us he said, If there had been anything changed in the prayer, surely I would have informed you but I am a human being like you and liable to forget like you. So if I forget remind me and if anyone of you is doubtful about his prayer, he should follow what he thinks to be correct and complete his prayer accordingly and finish it and do two prostrations (of Sahu).

[Sahih al-Bukhari 401]

Ahmad (AS): No Mahdi in Bukhari

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) has already mentioned in multiple books that Mahdi is not mentioned in Bukhari and Muslim.

Izala Auham (1891): No Mahdi

Testimony of the Holy Quran (1893): “This is God’s Khalifah, the Guided One”

Haqiqatul Mahdi (1899): No Mahdi

This clearly shows that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) has mistakenly attributed the hadith to Bukhari and such humanly mistakes are normal for even the prophets to do.

Sunni Scholars attribute the same narration to Bukhari

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) mistakenly attributed the hadith to Bukhari, just like many other scholars of Islam had done the same. It is possible that all of them quoted this hadith from Kanzul Ummal or another scholarly book which had a similar mistake.

Qari Muhammad Tayyab, son of Qasim Nanotvi, who is the founder of the Deobandi sect says:

There are some signs regarding the Mahdi, peace be upon him. For example, that the Mahdi, peace be upon him, will appear in Mecca. And this hadith is present in Sahih Bukhari Sharif that a voice will come from the unseen, and that voice will be: ‘This is Allah’s Caliph, the Mahdi, so follow him and obey him.‘ Meaning, this is Allah’s Caliph, the Mahdi – listen to him and obey him.

[Majalis i Hakeem ul Islam]

What is the source of this Hadith?

Lastly, this hadith is a famous narration found in multiple ahadith book. It is not made up by the Promised Messiah (AS).

Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When you see that an army carrying black flags has emerged from the direction of Khorasan, then you must join them because in that army is the Caliph of Allah, Mahdi.

** This Hadith is Sahih (authentic) according to the criteria of Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) and Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him), but the two Sheikhs (may Allah have mercy on them) did not narrate it.

[Mustadrak Al Hakim 8531]

Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Three people, all of them sons of Caliphs, will fight over your treasure, but none of them will acquire it. Then, black banners will emerge from the east, and they will fight you in a way that no nation has ever fought before.” He (the Prophet) mentioned some other things then said: “When you see him (the one with the black banners), pledge allegiance to him, even if you have to crawl over ice on your buttocks, for he is the Mahdi, the Caliph of Allah.“

**This hadith is sahih (authentic) according to the criteria of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, but the two Sheikhs (Abu Bakr and Umar) did not narrate it.**

[Mustadrak Al Hakim 8432]

Conclusion

The hadith was misattributed to Sahih Bukhari by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS).

Such mistakes are not uncommon for even the Prophets of Allah. Muhammad (SAW), and other prophets also made humanly mistakes in their life

If such mistakes prove that Ahmad (AS) is a false Messiah, then one has to declare all prophets of Allah as false too. Nauzubillah.

The hadith exists in many books of ahadith and graded as authentic by numerous scholars (Ibn Kathir etc)

A few other Muslim scholars have misattributed this hadith to Bukhari as well

Introduction

Every year on 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal, millions of Muslims around the world, particularly in Yemen, Egypt, and the Indian subcontinent, celebrate Mawlid or Eid Milad al-Nabi – which is the commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. These gatherings usually involve speeches, poetry recitations, processions, and festive celebrations – most of which are outward and ostentatious in nature.

However, as Ahmadi Muslims, it is important to remember the clear guidance given by the Messiah and Imam of the Age, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS).

Mawlid Al-Nabi: An Innovation Not Established by the Prophet ﷺ

The Holy Prophet ﷺ himself never celebrated his own birthday, nor did the Sahaba (RA), and nor the early generations of Muslims. Love for the Prophet ﷺ was not expressed outwardly through annual festivities, but rather by obedience, following his Sunnah, and upholding his mission.

This is exactly what Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS), the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, made clear – that true love for our beloved master, the Holy Prophet ﷺ, is demonstrated through practice of his teachings, not through innovations (bid‘ah).

Stance of the Promised Messiah (AS) on Mawlid

The Promised Messiah (AS) was asked whether Mawlid Majalis (gatherings commemorating the birthday of the Holy Prophet ﷺ) could be convened. He (AS) gave a detailed reply with clear guidance for Ahmadis. Below is a portion; the full answer can be read in the attached Urdu and English scans.

“If a meeting is held for the upholding of Islam and remembrance of the Prophet ﷺ, it comes under the kind of meetings which are permitted. The audience must be offering Durud. No innovations must take place there. The speeches must contain only the events of the life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ and the people should be praising God and praying for the Prophet.”

[Al Hakam, April 30th, 1904, pg 3] [English Scan]

Furthermore, Ahmad (AS) constantly explained that Muslims should remember the Holy Prophet ﷺ every single day, not just once a year. He taught that reducing the Prophet’s ﷺ remembrance to a single day of festivities diminishes his true greatness.

He (AS) repeatedly stressed that the Prophet ﷺ must be remembered in every prayer, and that a true Muslim should send abundant Durood upon him daily – as that is a direct command of Allah in Holy Qur’an 33:57. According to Ahmad (AS), honouring our beloved master ﷺ truly was not through rituals, but in living his example in our daily lives – reflected in our actions, speech, and morals – while remaining firmly attached to the Qur’an and Sunnah as the real expression of love.

Stance of Khalifatul Masih I (RA) on Mawlid

Hazrat Hakeem Maulvi Noor-ud-Din (RA), Khalifatul Masih I, made it abundantly clear that Muslims have only two Eids. Therefore, calling or celebrating Mawlid as “Eid Milad” is a bid‘ah, and that true love for the Prophet ﷺ should be expressed as Masih Maud (AS) taught and expressed himself – by following the Qur’an and Sunnah, not through innovations:

“Eid Milad is a bid’ah. There are only two Eids. In this way, people will keep creating new Eids and Ahmadis will say that there should be an Eid on the day of Mirza Sahib’s first revelation and Eid on the day of his death […] The greatest lovers of the Prophet ﷺ were the Sahaba, and they did not create a third Eid. If Eid Milad was permissible, then Hazrat Sahib [the Promised Messiah (AS)], who was a great lover of the Prophet ﷺ, would have observed it. To create such an Eid is a sign of ignorance, and those who create it only want to please the masses, otherwise they have no religious zeal.”

[Irshadat-e-Noor, vol 2, pg 352-353]

Stance of Beloved Huzoor (ATBA) on Mawlid

In his Khutbah (Friday Sermon) on March 13, 2009, on the topic “True Commemoration of the Blessed Life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ”, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (atba), Khalifatul Masih V, stated:

“The life of our beloved Prophet can be discussed at different times throughout the year, and such gatherings should be held. This has been the practice of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, and this is what the community does. Therefore, it is not tied to any specific day, but even if a specific day is designated for holding these gatherings and discussing the Prophet’s life—which is always discussed—there is no harm in it if it happens across the country and the world. However, it is essential that no innovations are included.”

[Alislam: Friday Sermon, March 13th, 2009]

This question about celebrating Mawlid Jalsa was also once posed to Beloved Huzoor (atba) by a young female, to which Huzoor (atba) replied that while commemorating Jalsa Eid Milad Al-Nabi in the way many Muslims do is incorrect, it is also wrong to label it entirely forbidden. He explained that even in Qadian and Rabwah, people celebrated it by reciting “Salle Allah” and decorating their homes with lamps, lights, and small flags.

Huzoor (atba) clarified that celebrations are only forbidden when they involve harmful innovations. However, if such events are observed to highlight the message of Islam and the Holy Prophet ﷺ – for example, as a Jalsa Seerat-un-Nabi which we Ahmadis started and hold in many countries today – then there is no harm in them:

“Who says we do not celebrate it? We do not celebrate Milad-un-Nabi Jalsa on that day, which was started by the Non-Ahmadis. Seerat-un-Nabi Jalsa was started by Ahmadis, before that it was non-existent. When Hindus and Christians started their accusations against the Holy Prophet (SAW), at that time, above all others, the Promised Messiah (AS) responded to them. The Jalsas started in the time of Hazrat Musleh Maud (RA) and Seerat-un-Nabi Jalsas are now held today […] Hence we do not condemn it, in fact we started it. These people just celebrate Milad-un-Nabi once annually, talk a bit and then settle back down.”

[Waqf-e-Nau Class, June 8th, 2014]

Furthermore, Ahmadi Muslims pretty much celebrate “Eid Milad-un-Nabi ” every single day. How?

Because beloved Huzoor, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (atba), has instructed all Ahmadis around the world to send Salawat (Durood Sharif) upon the Holy Prophet ﷺ at least 200 times daily (with age-based guidance for younger members). This practice shows that Ahmadis are remembering, honouring, and drawing closer to the Prophet ﷺ every single day throughout the year, and not just one day.

Conclusion

While millions of Muslims around the world celebrate Mawlid or Eid Milad Al-Nabi, Ahmadi Muslims should remember the clear guidance of the Promised Messiah (AS): the true way to honour the Holy Prophet ﷺ is through daily love and obedience, sending abundant Durood upon him and his progeny, and reflecting and studying his life – not through innovations that he himself never practiced.

Introduction

Some anti-Ahmadis, such as Nuzhat Haneef and Adnan Rashid, allege that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (AS) had a bad character because he was uncivil when mocking the Christians.

But the mockery must remain within bounds of civility and also must be fair.

They show this picture as “Proof”

The claim is, look, how Mirza Ghulam Ahmad drew up this picture of Dowie, meanwhile his own picture is there.

Refutation

First of all, if we go to the original edition, we see how bogus this claim really is

Original Edition has a Drawing of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad AS

The claims that these images are a caricature of Dowie is extremely laughable at best.. The original edition of the same book quoted by Adnan) also has a sketch of Masih Mau’ud ASWill anti-Ahmadis claim he drew a caricature of himself?

*Note: The page numbers are different because Ruhani Khazain compilation came after, and in the lifetime of Promised Messiah AS there was no such compilation called “Ruhani Khazain”, where multiple books can be in a singular volume

Why the need of sketches?

Photocopiers as we have today were not available and did not come into existence until the 1960’s onwards. Reproducing images was difficult and tedious – sketches, drawings etc were common : https://www.npr.org/2013/10/23/239241106/happy-birthday-copy-machine-happy-birthday-copy-machine

An Actual Caricature of Dowie

Definition of Caricature

A caricature is a painting, or more usually drawing, of a person or thing in which the features and form have been distorted and exaggerated in order to mock or satirise the subject.

Here is one historical caricature of Dowie:

Sketches were taken from Newspapers

Promised Messiah AS himself has denoted in his books that he has taken images from newspapers and published them (He didn’t draw them).

…and which was taken from the pictures published by the Christians.’

[Ruhani Khazain, vol. 11, pg. 35]

Each sketch in the book of the Promised Messiah AS was from the newspapers:

Example 1:

Example 2:

Some more images of Dowie:

Sanaullah Amritsari’s caricature of Jesus!

In fact it is @MrAdnanRashid and @Farid_0v ‘s scholar, Ahle Hadith

Sanaullah Amritsari who made a caricature of ISA AS

Above the image is the words of Jesus from the Bible “Eli Eli Lama Sabacthani – O God why hast thou forsaken me

Conclusion

According to the absurd conclusion of the Anti-Ahmadis, Promised Messiah AS drew a caricature of Dowie but also of himself. Clearly, these ignorants do not even know what the meaning of the word caricature is. Sketches of an images which are accurate can not be deemed as a caricature as by definition a caricature has exaggerated features.

Promised Messiah AS didn’t draw these pictures; rather these were sketched by an artist/scribe based on newspaper photos.

Introduction

An Anti-Ahmadi by the name of ReasonOnFaith alleged that Ahmadiyya Jama’at fabricated Malfuzat to add the Mubahala challenge to Pigott, 60 years after the death of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (AS).

Let’s enjoy the absolute ignorance of this ‘intellectual’.

Malfoozat: The compilation made in 1960 of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s statements, written down over half a century after Mirza Ghulam Ahmad had already died. Generally speaking, entries are not traced back to any contemporaneous written records.

…

Perhaps the reason for the missing mubahila reference is that much of the mubahila apologetic comes to us from passages in Malfoozat—a compilation of books not published until the 1960s—and even then, only in Urdu.9 As a result, many apologists in the Jama’at for whom English is their main language, wouldn’t have even known about this innovative line of apologetic.

Of course, if a mubahila was proposed to Pigott back in Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s own lifetime, you’d think we’d at least have one article defending the prophecy on those grounds in say, 1908, 1909 or 1910.10

Ahmadi Muslim readers are encouraged to look for such an article from the period. Try the Review of Religions archives from both the Qadian and Lahore branches of Ahmadiyya Islam. Did you find a candidate article? If so, does it provide authenticated evidence from before Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s own death, that a mubahila was issued? If not, why did we have to wait until the 1960s for this evidence to surface? Food for thought.

[Link]

There are countless sensational claims like this, alleging that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community fabricates new references to counter the attacks of its opponents. For the sake of brevity and to spare the little dignity left for the anti-Ahmadis, we will leave it at that.

Refutation

Malfuzat – A fabrication of the 1960s?

Malfuzat is a collection of all the oral sayings of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) that were published in Al-Hakam and Al-Badr newspaper, during the lifetime of the Promised Messiah (AS). This is literally mentioned in the preface of every volume of Malfuzat.

In the preparation of this most recent typeset edition, the original sources from Al-Hakam and Al-Badr Qadian were studied and every effort was made to include any spoken words of the Promised Messiah, on whom be peace

[Link]

Every single reference in Malfuzat has the reference of the corresponding Al-Hakam and Al-Badr newspaper’s date and year. Here is 1 simple example from English Malfuzat.

Similarly, Urdu Malfuzat has the exact same references with each narration from Promised Messiah (AS). It is absurd to claim that Ahmadis invented the references and attributed them to Ahmad (AS) to answer the critics.

Pigott Mubahala in Al-Hakam?

After knowing the absolute ignorance of the Anti-Ahmadi, we will now show proof of the reference from Al-Hakam where the Promised messiah (AS) sends a challenge of Mubahala to Pigott.

We should definitely send a letter to Piggott. If he competes, it will have a massive influence and people will also pay attention.

Mufti Sahib said that a letter has already been written.

The Promised Messiah (as) said: In comparison to US [Dowie], we are much more connected with Britain. If he accepts this competition and this is properly documented, we hope that Allah will show a sign.”

The original scan for this particular passage in Malfuzat, vol. 2, p. 439 is found in Al-Badr, Nov 7, 1902, p. 14.

Al-Badr, Nov 7, 1902, p. 14.

Conclusion

Almost every non-Ahmadi who attacks the Jama’at or the Promised Messiah (AS) displays the same level of ignorance. They do not engage in objective research or genuine learning; rather, their sole motive is to satisfy their ego and push a personal agenda.

Unfortunately, despite repeatedly reminding ReasonOnFaith, the article on his website remains unchanged even after three years. This only reinforces that their attacks on the community are not based on truth or sincerity. May Allah guide every enemy of Jama’at-e-Ahmadiyya. Ameen.

Some anti-Ahmadis allege that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (AS) had a bad character because he was uncivil when mocking the Christians. This was mentioned by an Anti-Ahmadi by the name of Nuzhat Haneef:

Refutation

This allegation shows how low the intellectual level of these people are. Literally right before the image, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) writes:

Introduction

Anti-Ahmadis cannot edit the Holy Quran as Allah has promised to protect it so they do what they can. They photoshop words into AhadithTahrif in the Hadith | Imam Bayhaqi’s Narration | Minas Samaa and not so surprisingly, into the books of Jama’at-e-Ahmadiyya as well. In this example, they have added a filthy sentence in the book, Seerat-ul-Mahdi by Mirza Bashir Ahmad (RA).

I saw that feces was coming out of his [Mirza] mouth, and with the feces there was also blood.

Refutation

This line is edited and does not exist in this edition nor any edition of Seeratul Mahdi. This is why the Anti-Ahmadis show only a portion of the page. They will never show a full page ever, nor give page number.

As seen in the video/GIF below, they have cut the page into 2 parts, added their own line in the middle, and stitched everything together. It can be noticed by their bad editing because the right margins go from straight lines to not-so-straight.

Even the grammar of the sentence is off. It’s not ‘go’ but ‘goo’ and it’s a Punjabi word, not Urdu.
