Black Indian Prophet Hadith – Did Promised Messiah (AS) fabricate this narration?

Table of Contents

Introduction

Anti-Ahmadis claim that the Promised Messiah (AS) attributed a fabricated hadith to the Prophet (SAW) when he claimed that there is a prophet in India who is black and his name is Kahin. They also claim that this narration isn’t even attributed to the Prophet (SAW). Thus, as per them, the Promised Messiah (AS) lied about the Prophet (SAW) which is a great sin.

This is the passage where they make the allegation:

Once the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked about the prophets of other lands, so he said that a prophet has passed in every land, and he said: “There was a prophet in India who was black in complexion, his name was Kahin”, meaning there was a prophet in India who was dark-skinned, and his name was Kahin, which refers to Krishna.

Refutation

Firstly, this allegation is not only an allegation of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) but of the Prophet (SAW) and really any prophet of the past. This means that the Prophet (SAW) also needs to provide sources for the numerous statements he has made regarding the past prophets, which aren’t found in the Holy Quran. For example, the Prophet (SAW) should give use the sources of the following statements he made regarding the past prophets:

Narrated Ibn `Umar:

Once Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) stood amongst the people, glorified and praised Allah as He deserved and then mentioned the Dajjal saying, “l warn you against him (i.e. the Dajjal) and there was no prophet but warned his nation against him. No doubt, Noah warned his nation against him but I tell you about him something of which no prophet told his nation before me. You should know that he is one-eyed, and Allah is not one-eyed.”

[Sahih al-Bukhari 3337]

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, took hold of the folds of his robe and said, ‘I see that you are wearing the clothes of someone who is without intelligence.’ Then he went on, ‘When the Prophet Nuh, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he told his son, “I will give you some instructions. I command you to things and I forbid you two things. I command you to say, ‘There is no god but Allah.

[Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 548]

Abu Ad-Darda’ narrated that :

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “It used to be from the supplication of Dawud that he would say: ‘O Allah, indeed, I ask You for Your love and the love of those who love You, and for the action that will cause me to attain Your love, O Allah, make Your love more beloved to me than myself, my family and cold water (Allāhumma innī as’aluka ḥubbaka wa ḥubba man yuḥibbuka wal-`amalalladhī yuballighunī ḥubbak. Allāhummaj`al ḥubbaka aḥabba ilaiyya min nafsī, wa ahlī wa minal-mā’il-bārid) He said: “And when the Prophet (ﷺ) would mention Dawud, he would narrate about him, saying: “He was the best in worship out of all men.”

[Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3490]

In short, the Anti-Ahmadis must give us the sources where all the other prophets have warned their people of Dajjal, then show us the source of the Nuh (AS) story and then prove where Dawud (AS) read that Dua. These are just a few examples of the stories of the past prophets that Muhammad (SAW) narrated. Can the Anti-Ahmadis provide us with the sources of everything Muhammad (SAW) said about the past prophets, provided that it is not in the Holy Quran?

No, they cannot. Thus, it is illogical to ask a prophet for the statements he has made regarding the past prophets as they are based upon revelation from God Almighty. The above 3 ahadith are examples of those and so is the statement of the Promised Messiah (AS) regarding the black, Indian prophet called Kahin.

Secondly, the following is the proof that the Promised Messiah (AS) was revealed by God Almighty regarding Krishna (AS), just as Muhammad (SAW) was revealed regarding the past prophets.

Now let it be clear that it has been made manifest to me that Raja Krishan was, in fact, such a perfect man that his match is not found in any Rishi and Avatar of Hindus. He was the Avatar, that is, Prophet, of his time and the Spirit of Holiness descended upon him from God. God had bestowed victory and majesty on him. He cleansed the land of Aryavart of sin. He was in fact a prophet of his time, but his teachings were distorted in several things after him. He was filled with the love of God and held piety dear to him and loathed evil. God had promised that his reflection, that is an Avatar, would be sent in the latter days; so this promise was fulfilled in my appearance

[Tadhkirah, pg. 517]

God Almighty has disclosed to me repeatedly in my visions that a person of the name of Krishan, who appeared among the Aryas, was a chosen one of God and was a Prophet of his time. The expression Avatar which is current among the Hindus is in its essence synonymous with Prophet. There is a prophecy in Hindu scriptures that in the latter days an Avatar would appear, who will possess the qualities of Krishna and will be his reflection. It has been conveyed to me that I am that person.
