Can a woman get pregnant during her pregnancy?
Introduction
Another allegation of the Anti-Ahmadis is that the Promised Messiah (AS) was ignorant about the biological sciences and claimed that a pregnant woman could become pregnant during the same pregnancy. The reference is from Arya Dharam, Ruhani Khazain, vol. 10, pg. 21, and according to them, this is enough evidence to prove that he is a false prophet.
Refutation
Firstly, Promised Messiah (AS) is completely right i.e it is possible for a pregnant woman to get pregnant and the term for it is called superfetation.1Tarín JJ, García-Pérez MA, Hermenegildo C, Cano A. Unpredicted ovulations and conceptions during early pregnancy: an explanatory mechanism of human superfetation. Reprod Fertil Dev. 2013;25(7):1012-9. doi: 10.1071/RD12238. PMID: 23043772.
This is further explained in many other credible sources. One of them is below:
Superfetation is an extremely rare event that involves getting pregnant while you’re already pregnant. Your body goes through changes that make it nearly impossible for you to become pregnant while a fertilized egg (embryo) is already growing inside your uterus. With superfetation, a new pregnancy bypasses your body’s natural barriers that prevent a new pregnancy while you’re pregnant.

Secondly, Promised Messiah (AS) was more knowledgeable in science than the 21st-century anti-Ahmadis who bring up this allegation. On the same page, he quotes the book, Maadan-ul-Hikmat which was written by a doctor and which proves the existence of superfetation.
But as is the case with Anti-Ahmadis, they did not bother looking at it. The book gives examples of women and doctors who have noted this phenomenon in the past. These are the exact pages from the book, Maadan-ul-Hikmat, pg. 163-167 which were quoted by the Promised Messiah (AS).
Thirdly, the allegation usually comes from those who already believe in absurd things, such as a flying human, who has been living in the sky for 2000 years, without food, water, and air, or things like spirits possessing humans. How ironic!
Fourthly, even if the Promised Messiah (AS) was wrong about the existence of superfetation, even then he can’t be deemed as a false prophet. Prophets are not infallible in the knowledge of sciences and other non-religious matters. The clearest example is from the hadith where the farmers of Medinah faced great losses.
Anas reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) happened to pass by the people who had been busy in grafting the trees. Thereupon he said:
If you were not to do it, it might be good for you. (So they abandoned this practice) and there was a decline in the yield. He (the Holy Prophet) happened to pass by them (and said): What has gone wrong with your trees? They said: You said so and so. Thereupon he said: You have better knowledge (of a technical skill) in the affairs of the world.
[Sahih Muslim 2363]
Fifthly, even if the Promised Messiah (AS) was wrong about the existence of superfetation as per the scientific research and knowledge of his time, even then it would have no effect on his prophethood. This is because the knowledge of science is limited and new phenomena are discovered every year. Hypothetically, if superfetation did not exist or this phenomenon was not discovered yet, it would not change anything.
Sixthly, as per the anti-Ahmadis, Allah can do anything so why is it unbelievable for them to believe in the superfetation which has been seen not only among humans but also in the animal kingdom? Do these people question the ability of Allah? Nauzubillah!
Conclusion
This allegation is not only childish but also ironic because it is made by those who have a plethora of beliefs that are just plain stupid and against the science of today. May Allah guide such people to the True Islam, Islam Ahmadiyya.
