Advent of Messiah: Bukhari & Holy Quran
Introduction
According to many Ahadith and scholars, the Messiah was to descend in the 14th century Hijri (1300 Hijri – 1400 Hijri), we have already written another article collecting these references. This article focuses specifically on two of those references which show clearly that the Messiah would come in 1300 Hijri (which equals to 1883 Gregorian). Both of which are from Sahih Bukhari and the Quran at their source.
Man of Persian Descent
300 years of Guidance
According to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw), the 300 years (3 centuries) after him would be filled with guidance. This is written in many Ahadith in the Sahih Sittah, below is a hadith quoted from Sahih Bukhari:
Narrated Zahdam bin Mudrab:
I heard `Imran bin Husain saying, “The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘The best people are those living in my generation, then those coming after them, and then those coming after (the second generation).” `Imran said “I do not know whether the Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned two or three generations after your present generation. The Prophet (ﷺ) added, ‘There will be some people after you, who will be dishonest and will not be trustworthy and will give witness (evidences) without being asked to give witness, and will vow but will not fulfill their vows, and obesity will appear among them.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 2651]
Therefore the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) said the best people would be the Sahaba, the Tabi’een, the Taba Tabi’een, and the Taba Taba Tabi’een, which equals to 2-3 generations (300 years).
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) said after 300 years of guidance, misguidance would appear and people would appear who deceive and do not fulfil their oaths.
1000 years of Misguidance
After the 300 years of guidance after Muhammad (saw), a thousand years of misguidance would dawn upon the Muslims. This is what the Quran means in the following verse:
یُدَبِّرُ الۡاَمۡرَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ اِلَی الۡاَرۡضِ ثُمَّ یَعۡرُجُ اِلَیۡہِ فِیۡ یَوۡمٍ کَانَ مِقۡدَارُہٗۤ اَلۡفَ سَنَۃٍ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّوۡنَ
He will plan the Divine Ordinance from the heaven unto the earth, then shall it go up to Him in a day the duration of which is a thousand years according to what you reckon.
[Holy Quran 32:6]
According to this verse, Allah established his Divine Ordinance (the Quran, Islam, Guidance) from Heaven to the Earth, this is what it means by, ‘He will plan the Divine Ordinance from the heaven unto the earth‘. According to the quoted Hadith above, this period lasted 300 years.
Then afterwards the meaning of, ‘then shall it go up to Him in a day the duration of which is a thousand years according to what you reckon.‘ is that an age of misguidance will appear, when the Divine Ordinance (the Quran, Islam, Guidance) will ascend from the Earth to Allah. This period of misguidance when Faith has ascended from the Earth will last for 1000 years according to this Quranic verse.
Man of Persian Descent
Then Hazrat Muhammad (saw) made it clear, that when Faith ascends to the Highest Star (Ath Thurayya – Pleiades) a man of Persian descent would retrieve it and bring it back down the Earth:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
While we were sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ) Surat Al-Jumu’a was revealed to him, and when the Verse, “And He (Allah) has sent him (Muhammad) also to other (Muslims)…..’ (62.3) was recited by the Prophet, I said, “Who are they, O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)?” The Prophet (ﷺ) did not reply till I repeated my question thrice. At that time, Salman Al-Farisi was with us. So Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) put his hand on Salman, saying, “If Faith were at (the place of) Ath-Thuraiya (pleiades, the highest star), even then (some men or man from these people (i.e. Salman’s folk) would attain it.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 4897]
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) said the above in commentary of the following verses of the Quran found in Surah Juma’ah which state Muhammad (saw) would be raised among other Muslims who were not alive at the time of the Sahaba:
ہُوَ الَّذِیۡ بَعَثَ فِی الۡاُمِّیّٖنَ رَسُوۡلًا مِّنۡہُمۡ یَتۡلُوۡا عَلَیۡہِمۡ اٰیٰتِہٖ وَیُزَکِّیۡہِمۡ وَیُعَلِّمُہُمُ الۡکِتٰبَ وَالۡحِکۡمَۃَ ٭ وَاِنۡ کَانُوۡا مِنۡ قَبۡلُ لَفِیۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِیۡنٍ وَّاٰخَرِیۡنَ مِنۡہُمۡ لَمَّا یَلۡحَقُوۡا بِہِمۡ ؕ وَہُوَ الۡعَزِیۡزُ الۡحَکِیۡمُ
[Quran 62:3-4]
He it is Who has raised among the Unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves who recites unto them His Signs, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom, although they had been, before, in manifest misguidance; And among others from among them who have not yet joined them. He is the Mighty, the Wise.
Therefore the man of Persian descent would be a 2nd coming of Muhammad (saw) himself, and he would come when Islam is nowhere to be found on Earth.
Connection
After 300 years of guidance, the Quran says 1000 years of misguidance would remain when the Divine Ordinance (the Quran, Islam, Guidance) would ascend up to Allah, and true Islam would not remain on the Earth. Then in Ahadith, it says that when faith would ascend to the Heavens a man of Persian descent would attain it and bring it to the Earth – this means to revive Islam.
This makes it clear that this man of Persian descent would come 1300 years (300+1000) after the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw)! These 3 references make it clear that 1300 years after Muhammad (saw) when faith would ascend to Allah, a man of Persian descent would retrieve it and spread faith on the Earth. These 3 references are perfectly in line with each other. This shows that this man would come in 1300 Hijri (1883 A.D)
Descent of the Messiah
Shah Ismail Shaheed (rh) was a greatly respected martyr 1 who lived before the Promised Messiah (as)’s birth from 1779 – 1831. In his book Al-Arba’in fi Ahwal-al-Mahdiyin through the Abjad Value of a hadith in Sahih Bukhari concerning the Messiah, he wrote that the Messiah would be sent down in 1883 which is 1300 Hijri.
This is the hadith he used which is found in Bukhari:
كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا نَزَلَ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ فِيكُمْ وَإِمَامُكُمْ مِنْكُمْ
[Sahih al-Bukhari 3449]
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said “How will you be when the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you and is your Imam from among you
By taking the Abjad value of (كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا نَزَلَ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ فِيكُمْ – How will you be when the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you) which equals to 1883, he pointed towards the Messiah being sent down in 1883 A.D. 1883 A.D is equal to 1300 Hijri.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this makes it clear
1) A man of Persian descent would come exactly 1300 after the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) to revive Islam
2) Scholars have written the Messiah would be sent down in 1883 A.D (1300 Hijri)
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) made his claim in exactly 1300 Hijri which is 1883 A.D. He was of Persian descent and later claimed to be Mahdi and Messiah. He (as) wrote day and night to revive the faith of Islam. No one but Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) fits these exact dates and descriptions.
