Pioneers of Muslim Dawah at Speaker’s Corner: Ahmadi Muslims

Introduction

Speaker’s Corner has Muslims of all sects and nationalities, serving as a valuable place for dialogue between different sects & religions. However, this rich tradition was initiated by Ahmadi Muslims!

The first Muslim at Speakers Corner was Khawaja Kamaluddin who was sent at the the time of the first Khalifa, Maulana Nuruddin RA (1912). Khawaja Sahib spent a short time at Speakers Corner and later went on to found the Woking Mission and be the Imam of the 1st mosque in the UK.

In 1913, Chaudhry Fateh Muhammad Sial RA was also sent by the first Khalifa to further assist in the propagation of Islam in Britain. Unlike Khawaja Kamaluddin, Fateh Sial RA focused on going to Speakers Corner regularly and established a Mission house nearby.

Chaudhry Fateh Sial was followed by a stream of elite Ahmadi Scholars, masters in various Islamic Sciences, and interfaith polemics. These included Mufti Sadiq, Maulvi Sher Ali, Sheikh Yaqub Irfani, Maulvi Abdur-Raheem Nayyar, Qazi Abdullah, Maulvi Jalaluddin Shams, etc

Through these early Da’een, the first generation of British Muslims was birthed, and Islamic institutions such as the first two mosques in Britain and various Islamic English newspapers and magazines. This fulfilled the Promised Messiah’s AS white birds of London prophecy.
