Excerpt 60

The soul is a subtle light which is generated in the body and is nurtured in the womb. At first it has no distinct existence, but the essence of it is present in the sperm. It is related to the sperm by a subtle divine design and is a part of it. When the frame of the body is prepared, this light begins to shine forth.

Excerpt 61

The soul cannot enjoy any spiritual perception or perform any spiritual action without the aid of the body. Just as the eye is needed to see and the ear is needed to hear, so is the body necessary for the manifestation of the powers of the soul. When the soul departs from the material body, God Almighty provides it with a subtle spiritual body in the realm of the Hereafter.
