Is Dajjal in the Quran?
Introduction
Is Dajjal in the Quran? As per non-Ahmadi Muslims, Dajjal is not mentioned in the Quran at all.
This creates a massive contradiction in their own beliefs.
We know from authentic Ahadith that:

Every single prophet warned about Dajjal:
إِنِّي لأُنْذِرُكُمُوهُ وَمَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلاَّ قَدْ أَنْذَرَهُ قَوْمَهُ، لَقَدْ أَنْذَرَ نُوحٌ قَوْمَهُ
“I warn you against him (i.e. the Dajjal) and there was no prophet but warned his nation against him. No doubt, Noah warned his nation against him.”

Dajjal is the biggest fitnah ever created since Adam (AS):
مَا بَيْنَ خَلْقِ آدَمَ إِلَى قِيَامِ السَّاعَةِ خَلْقٌ أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الدَّجَّالِ
“There is no creation between the creation of Adam and the onset of the Hour bigger than the Dajjal.”
Based on these two Ahadith, we know that Dajjal is the biggest fitnah humanity will ever face.
The Holy Quran is the most complete and comprehensive book of guidance. There is no way that the Quran does not mention the biggest trial that Muslims will face in the future.
The Quran does not ignore Dajjal. Non-Ahmadis just look for a literal monster that does not exist.
Is Dajjal in the Quran? Proof 1: The Quran Tells Us Dajjal is Satan
The Quran mentions Dajjal by his spiritual identity: Satan.
- Satan is the Deceiver: Dajjal literally means a deceiver. The Quran calls Satan Al-Gharoor (the Deceiver) in Quran 35:5 and Quran 31:33.
- Every prophet warned against him: Bukhari 3337 says every prophet warned about Dajjal. The Quran says every prophet warned their people to shun Taghut (Satan) in Quran 16:36.
- Flipping good and evil: Dajjal shows fire as paradise and paradise as fire (Sahih Muslim 2934a). The Quran says Satan makes evil deeds look beautiful (Quran 16:63).
- Salaf confirmed this: The teacher of Imam Bukhari, Nu’aim ibn Hammad, recorded in Kitab al-Fitan (Hadith #1498) from the companion Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib (RA): “He is not human, rather he is a Satan.”

Surah Kahf Describes Dajjal
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ told us to recite the first 10 and the last 10 verses of Surah Al-Kahf to be saved from Dajjal:
مَنْ حَفِظَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ مِنْ أَوَّلِ سُورَةِ الْكَهْف عُصِمَ مِنَ الدَّجَّالِ
“If anyone learns by heart the first ten verses of Surah al-Kahf, he will be protected from the Dajjal.”
[Sahih Muslim 809a]
He also said:
مِنْ آخِرِ سُورَةِ الْكَهْفِ
“From the last ten verses of Surat al-Kahf.”
[Sahih Muslim 809b]
Why did the Prophet ﷺ tell us to read these specific verses?
Just like a doctor prescribes a specific medicine to cure a specific disease, the Prophet ﷺ told us to read these verses because they tell us who Dajjal is and how to save ourselves from him.
He would never tell us to recite random verses to protect against the greatest fitnah!
What Do the First 10 Verses Say?
When we read the first 10 verses of Surah Al-Kahf, what does Allah warn us about?
Does He warn about a one-eyed giant monster with a donkey?
No. Read what Allah actually says:
وَّیُنۡذِرَ الَّذِیۡنَ قَالُوا اتَّخَذَ اللّٰہُ وَلَدًا ؕ مَّا لَہُمۡ بِہٖ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍ وَّلَا لِاٰبَآئِہِمۡ ؕ کَبُرَتۡ کَلِمَۃً تَخۡرُجُ مِنۡ اَفۡوَاہِہِمۡ ؕ اِنۡ یَّقُوۡلُوۡنَ اِلَّا کَذِبًا
“And that it may warn those who say, ‘Allah has taken unto Himself a son.’ No knowledge have they thereof, nor had their fathers. Grievous is the word that comes from their mouths. They speak naught but a lie.”
[Holy Quran 18:4-5]
The opening of Surah Al-Kahf warns against the people who claim God has a son.
This is the doctrine of Christianity!
The Prophet ﷺ told us to recite these verses to be saved from Dajjal because the greatest religious fitnah of Dajjal is the Christian doctrine of Trinity and sonship of God.
Dajjal is Christian Missionaries
This is why Ahadith connect Dajjal directly to Christianity:
- Dajjal emerges from the Church: In Sahih Muslim 2942a, the companion Tamim al-Dari found Dajjal inside a Dayr (a Christian monastery / church). Read our article: Dajjal Will Emerge From the Monastery (Church).
- The Messiah breaks the Cross: In Sahih al-Bukhari 3448, the Prophet ﷺ said the primary mission of the Promised Messiah is to break the cross. If Dajjal were a Jewish king or a monster, why would the Messiah’s main job be breaking the cross? Because Dajjal and the Christian missionary movement are the exact same fitnah!
- Killed with arguments: Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) broke the cross by proving that Jesus (AS) died a natural death like all human beings, destroying the false doctrine of atonement. Read: Dajjal Will Be Killed With Arguments, Not the Sword.
In the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, Christian missionaries spread across the Muslim world with global material power. This was the historical manifestation of Dajjal described in the Quran and Hadith.
Conclusion
The Holy Quran is complete and comprehensive. It does not ignore the greatest fitnah.
The Quran mentions Dajjal as Satan (Al-Gharoor) and points directly to his deception in Surah Al-Kahf: the doctrine that God has a son.
This deception was spread by Christian missionaries, and it was defeated by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) through divine arguments and truth.
